R2D2 Trashcan Gift

Art and Design, College, For Fun

Last semester, finding time between classes and work, I made a birthday gift for a close friend. He is obsessed with all things Star Wars, so I made him an R2D2 out of a brand new trashcan! It is small and only has the main identifiable designs drawn, but still pretty good if I do say so myself. As a bonus, my friends and I filled it with some of the birthday boy’s favorite candies, a toy penguin because it’s his favorite animal, and a Dexter bobble because he is addicted to that show. I wish I had more time to work on this project; it was really fun and different! If I had a chance to do it again, I would be more patient and get better art materials to draw with.

Update: years later, he still has this! The ink hasn’t really worn off with all the travel its done, bouncing from dorm room to apartment to house.

A special thanks to you, blog readers, for making this post one of my most viewed posts in my blog’s history! I wish I had taken some photos of the creation process for this, as it seems like a popular DIY project. I hope to share more fun, silly projects in the future.
