Art Challenge

Art and Design, For Fun

Edit: Hey everyone! Thigh have been pretty hectic lately. Instead of a 365 Day challenge, I’m just going to do a January challenge.

Happy New Year! I hope you’ve all had a fun and safe holiday season. 2014 was an interesting year for me, to say the least. There were celebrations, challenges, love, and loss. As a way to keep my mind from wandering, get my drawing skills in better shape, and make having a creative blog worthwhile, I want to give something new a try for the year 2015. I’m going to do a 365 Day Art Challenge! Each day, I plan to create a new piece of art: a sketch here, a doodle there, maybe even something done digitally if I have time. These might be big or small, colored or just black and white.

After searching for pre-made 365-day-art-challenge prompt lists, and finding most of them to be pretty bland, I’ve decided instead to use this art prompt generator. There are different categories to choose from: characters, objects, environments, creatures, and situations. This could even be a good prompt generator for creative writers. So far it hasn’t disappointed, with phrases like: “pug robot,” “a baby werewolf’s first transformation,” and “a trap sits ominously in the grass.” The generator packs a more powerful punch than other art prompt sites with typical assignments like “draw a fruit” or “draw a glass bottle.” Been there, done that! I’m excited to see what kooky things are generated. From time to time, I may also create my own prompt if I’m really itching to try something out.

By now you’ve probably noticed the date though, and realized I’m already a little behind on my days. So I plan to make up for that and post the results as soon as they’re finished. There may be days where more than one piece gets posted and there may be days where nothing gets posted— and that’s fine! Life happens and certain things take priority. I don’t want to be too strict with the rules. This is supposed to be just a fun exercise to keep my creative juices flowing in between day-to-day activities.

So stick around and let’s see what 2015 brings!
