Art Prompt: hipsters
Materials: Sharpie pen, Copic markers, paper
I wanted to test out my new Copic sketch markers with faces. I thought it’d be fun to draw some people I saw earlier in the day. I only have five Copic markers right now: Skin White E00, Peach R32, Light Walnut E57, Lettuce Green YG09, and Soft Greenish Blue B52. They can be pretty expensive, so I only buy one or two individual markers while they’re on sale or if I have a coupon. There are over 350 colors, they’re refillable, non-toxic, alcohol-based, and have incredible shelf life. They will be great to blend and use for gradients and cartoon-styled inking, once I have more color variants and practice. I enjoying learning about how to use Copic markers through videos on YouTube. My personal favorites are by K. Werner Design.
As for my fine tip Sharpie pens, I enjoy them in a pinch. They are comparable to Micron pens, but a little cheaper and seemingly more available since they can be found in the office supply section of various stores. My Micron pens only seemed available in Michael’s. With my pens, I sometimes explore different techniques like cross-hatching and stippling. It is a work-in-progress.
